Privacy Policy

uwait never reads your prompts, the AI's answers, or your conversations. The extension detects only when an answer is being generated and which public domains the AI cited. The little we do store is not sensitive: your email, anonymous ad tallies, and the public source domains. Everything else stays on your device.

uwait is an ad network for AI wait time. You install a free Chrome extension, and while ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini, Mistral, Copilot, DeepSeek or Grok generate an answer, a discreet native ad fills those few seconds of waiting, and you get paid a share of it (the rest goes to the public sources the AI cited and to the platform). This page explains, in plain language, exactly what data that requires and what it never touches.

The short version: we built uwait so the private part of your AI use, the part that actually matters, never leaves your machine. If you want the deeper explanation of why your prompts are safe, see do we read your prompts?

What we collect

What data does uwait collect?

We keep this list short on purpose. uwait collects:

  • Your account email and name. Used to sign you in and to send you account and payout notices. You sign in with a one-time email link or with Google. If you choose Google, we receive only your email address and name, never your Google password and never any other Google data.
  • Aggregated ad and impression events. Counts of ads shown, viewed, and clicked, so we can run auctions and pay you correctly. These are tallies, not a record of what you were asking.
  • Cited public domains. The public website domains the AI listed as sources for an answer (for example, a news site or a documentation page). This powers royalties to those sources and the optional Fund the Sources feature.
  • Payout information, handled by Stripe. When you withdraw earnings, Stripe collects what it needs to pay you. We do not store your full bank details on our servers.
What we never touch

What does uwait never collect or read?

These are off limits by design. uwait does not collect, read, store, or transmit:

  • Your prompts. What you type into the AI never reaches us.
  • The AI's answers. The text the model writes back stays on your device.
  • Your conversations. Chat history, threads, and context are never read.
  • Page content. We do not scrape or copy the content of the pages you visit.
Under the hood

How does the extension work technically?

The extension watches the page for two narrow signals, and ignores everything else:

  • Generation state. It detects that an answer is currently being generated, so it knows when to show an ad and when to remove it. It reads the "is it thinking?" signal, not what is being thought.
  • Cited public domains. When the answer lists sources, it picks up the public domains of those citations, so royalties can flow to them.

That is the whole footprint. The prompt text, the answer text, and the rest of the page are processed locally and never sent anywhere. The ad placement is native and non-intrusive, and it never blocks or delays your answer. For a fuller walkthrough, see how it works.

Cookies and storage

Does uwait use cookies?

We keep storage minimal. uwait uses local storage on your device to hold your authentication token, so you stay signed in between sessions. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies to follow you around the web.

Third parties

Who else is involved?

Stripe handles payouts. When you withdraw your earnings once you pass the payout minimum, Stripe processes the transfer to your bank account and collects the information it needs to do that. Stripe's handling of that data is governed by its own privacy policy. We do not sell your data, and we do not share your activity with advertisers as anything other than aggregated, anonymized figures (never individuals, never prompts).

Your rights

What rights do you have?

  • Access. You can ask us what data we hold about your account and request a copy.
  • Delete. You can delete your account at any time. When you do, we remove your account email and associated records, keeping only what we are legally required to retain for tax and payment compliance.

To exercise either right, email us and we will take care of it. You can manage most of this directly from your account once you are signed in.
